There are 14 types of action plans to make Ulaanbaatar a Green City. It is aimed at improving the living environment of all citizens in a healthy, safe and comfortable manner.
Ulaanbaatar is located in a water-scarce area, but is prone to flooding, making the Mongolian capital somewhat paradoxically vulnerable to climate change. Urban air quality has deteriorated due to the use of coal-based heat and inefficient energy systems.
Ulaanbaatar has chosen to prioritize energy and construction efficiency and land use in order to reduce air and soil pollution, reduce carbon footprint from heating, and improve the quality of life of its residents.
To this end, the city plans to develop multi-sectoral sectors worth $ 712 million.
It includes a set of activities, including specific measures and estimated costs to address the specific environmental challenges facing the city.
The 14 sections of this activity include provisions for the development of green spaces, eco-districts, public transportation systems, environmentally friendly solutions and the design of the “Cotton City”, waste management and sanitation.
